WoW Guide: Warlock Professions
PrimaryProfessions-
This is primarily about the simple outright benefits of the professionthat affect your character directly and not so much the combination ofprofessions to benefit each other.
Alchemy-
Benefit- Mixology- You receive increased effect and duration when youdrink any flask or elixir you are able to create. 37 spellpower and double duration on flasks and elixirs.
Instead of receiving 125 spell power from Flask of the Frost Wyrm, youwill receive 162 and it will last two hours instead of one. Alchemy also allows you to make various elixirs and potions that can beuseful in many situations around Azeroth.
Blacksmith-
Benefit- The ability to socket bracers and gloves. 2x 19spell power gems = 38 spell power increase.
Blacksmithing is by far the most expensive profession to level up thesedays and since the only thing you gain is the sockets and none of thegear you can create is wearable on a Warlock this isn’t thebest choice for you.
Enchanting-
Benefit- 38 spell power
Enchanting offers you ring enchants. The best ring enchantfor Warlocks is +19 spell power. Therefore with 2 ringenchants, Enchanting offers you 38 spell power. Enchanting isalso a great money making profession. You will be able todisenchant all the gear you would normal vender away which ends upmaking you a ridiculous amount of gold or an abundant amount ofshards/dust in your bank.
Engineering-
Benefit- Jumper Cables, Repair Bots, decent headgear, and trinkets.
Engineering isn’t a profession that’s going todirectly benefit your DPS. With endless trinkets and doodads,Engineering is an extremely handy profession though.
Herbalism-
Benefit- Life Blood: Uses your skill in Herbalism to absorbenergy and nutrients from the earth, healing you for 2000 over 5seconds. (level 80)
Combined with Alchemy or Inscription Herbalism becomes even morevaluable. I don’t see Life Blood as an ability tomake your decision over. Herbalism’s real benefitis the ability to save gold by allowing you to pick herbs instead ofhaving to purchase them from other players.
Inscription-
Benefit- 37 spell power.
Inscription workers have the ability to create and wear the bestshoulder enchants in Azeroth. If you are exalted with Sons ofHodir after weeks of daily quests you can get the 24 spell power, 15critical strike enchant. With Inscription, you have anenchant that offers 61 spell power and 15 critical strike available toyou. Other than that, inscription requires herbs and isfairly easy to level. Be careful at higher levels though, thebest patterns come from rare books, so, make sure you have the onesthat take the least amount to create before you start wasting materials.
Jewelcrafting-
Benefit- Offers 3 unique gems. 39 spell power.
The gem that’s best for warlocks is the 32 spell powergem. The gem is unique to 3, this means you can make 3 ofthese Jewelcrafter only gems put them in any slot and they will award32 spell power. Another great thing about these gems is thatthey are prismatic, which means they fit any slot. So, putthem in your blue slots since its so hard to find good caster DPS bluegems and they work just fine towards Meta gems and socket bonuses.
Leatherworking-
Benefit- 37 spell power.
Leatherworking offers enchants through the Leatherworker only FurLining enchants. The Warlock one is 67 spell power tobracers. That’s 37 more than the nextbest. Other than that Leatherworking is pretty pointless forWarlocks.
Mining-
Benefit- Toughness: 50 stamina = 500 health
This is not a good choice as a Warlock. 500 healthdoesn’t make enough of an effect on a cloth wearer to investa profession. If your Warlock is
